The Clwyd Bird Recording Group seeks to "collect all
available bird records" (See page 'What do we do?'). We would welcome
records from simple to very detailed - at your discretion, but
generally, the more detailed the better.
Bird records that we would like include:
Counts of any species at particular locations
(identified by 1 km square or more accurately if you wish - eg your own
garden, a park or wood, etc.
Within any counts we would welcome any extra details, eg:
- numbers of males
- numbers of females
- numbers of juveniles
and, where possible, the ages of the birds, eg:
- first winter
- first summer
- adult (during the breeding season)
- juvenile
- etc.
Counts or estimates of roosts of any species.
Counts of large flocks. 'Large' could be any
number and the notion of a 'large flock' for any species can be found
by perusing recent reports. The largest counts may go up or down from
one year tothe next. Trends either way can only be identified if
observers keep us well informed.
For many species we lack information about
breeding. We would welcome counts of birds with the relevant indicator
of possible, probable or proven breeding (see the end of the 'Atlases'
page).
These counts could be done daily, weekly, monthly or at any frequency you choose, or are able to contribute.
If you have records of birds from previous years
stored in some way that you have not submitted to us, we would welcome
them. Please contact the Recorder if you wish to discuss how this could be done.
Locations
There are some 'star' locations in North-East Wales that are visited by
many people (eg Point of Ayr, Connah's Quay, RSPB Conwy and RSPB Inner
Marsh Farm nature reserves). However, there are large areas of
North-East Wales from which we have received no records. All records
from these areas will be very welcome to help build up a well-informed
picture of the avifauna and its conservation needs. Please be tempted
to explore some of these lesser known areas. They can be identified
from the tetrad map at the bottom of the 'Where do we record?' page.
